About The Statement on China’s Elimination of Export Duties Affecting Certain Aluminum Products

On May 1, the Chinese Ministry of Finance eliminated its 15 percent export duties on aluminum bars and rods (alloy and non-alloyed), and certain primary alloy.

Someone believes that the elimination of these export duties is inconsistent with China’s policy to discourage exports of energy-intensive products, a key element of the country’s “new normal” that puts emphasis on sustainable, quality growth. 

They also sees this change as having the potential to encourage unfair trade practices in the aluminum industry.

Chinese government was urged to maintain global trade practices and policies that ensure a level playing field so that all aluminum producers can compete fairly.
